Intensive Outpatient Program

La Ventana Eating Disorder Treatments

IOP Schedules By Facility:
Thousand Oaks Schedule | San Francisco Schedule

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to fit the needs of adults and adolescents, males and females, who are finding that outpatient treatment alone is insufficient at decreasing eating disorder symptoms or who need a seamless transition from a higher level of care. The goal of IOP is to solidify coping skills and replace the eating disorder symptoms with these newfound skills. Participants are taught how to recover from their eating disorders while experiencing the day-to-day stressors associated with living at home and participating in work/school, hobbies, and other activities in their lives.

Our IOP sets itself apart in that participants can receive services up to 6 days per week, Monday-Saturday (though treatment plans vary between 3-6 days/week). Furthermore, various schedule options are available and are designed to accommodate student life as well as after-work hours. You can view a particular facility's schedule at the top of this page.

Just as in our PHP, participants in IOP receive individual psychotherapy (or individual case management for those who have an outpatient psychotherapist who they wish to work with while in the program), family psychotherapy, nutritional counseling, supervised meals, and group psychotherapy. The latest in techniques shown to help individuals overcome eating disorders is incorporated into group work along with more traditional modalities. Group offerings include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Process, Art Therapy, Body Awareness, Family Group, and Relapse Prevention. See our IOP Schedules at the top of this page for more information.
